The EU digital COVID certificate allows you to travel safely between European Union (EU) states.
The EU digital COVID certificate is a document that accredits a person’s situation with respect to COVID-19 and facilitates mobility between the member states of the European Union.
The digital certificate name includes three equally valid accreditation options for travel:
- Vaccination certificate against COVID-19.
- COVID-19 recovery certificate.
- Negative COVID-19 diagnostic test certificate.
When will I be able to start obtaining these documents?
Although they are in a phase of progressive deployment, both technically and in the field of functionalities, it is now possible to obtain the vaccination certificate, the recovery certificate, and the negative diagnostic test certificate through My Health .

How and where can I obtain the EU digital COVID certificate?
You can find them in My Health , in the sections “Reports and results” and “Vaccines and EU digital COVID certificate”.
- Vaccination certificate against COVID-19.
- You will get it if you have received a dose of a vaccine against COVID-19 approved by the European Union: Pfizer, Moderna, Janssen and AstraZeneca. If you have been positively diagnosed with COVID-19 for more than 6 months and have received a dose of the vaccine, your vaccination schedule is considered complete.
- If you are not yet vaccinated, visit the Vaccination Notices page and see if you are part of the groups called for vaccination.
- If you are not vaccinated, you can request the other two certificates.
- COVID-19 Recovery Certificate:
- It is provided to you if you have passed the COVID-19 with a positive PCR diagnostic test that appears in the health system of Catalonia.
- To obtain it, a minimum of 11 days and a maximum of 180 days must elapse from the positive PCR result of COVID-19.
- By European guideline, the rapid antigen test (ART) is not valid to obtain the COVID-19 Recovery Certificate. You will have to wait 6 months from the positive diagnosis to receive a dose of vaccine and be able to obtain the COVID-19 Vaccination Certificate.
- Negative COVID-19 diagnostic test certificate (ART or PCR) that you can take at any of these accredited centers .
The three certificates can be obtained in person at the Primary Care Centers . You can also apply for the vaccination at the vaccination center when you go to get vaccinated.
Is it only for vaccinated people?
No. Three different certificates can be obtained:
Vaccination certificate against COVID-19.
COVID-19 recovery certificate.
Negative COVID-19 diagnostic test certificate.
I have passed COVID-19 and I have a dose of the vaccine. Can I apply for the EU digital COVID certificate?
If you have had COVID-19 and you already have one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, your vaccinations are complete. As a consequence, you can obtain the EU digital COVID certificate.
How long do these certificates last? Do they expire?
- COVID-19 vaccination certificate: Valid for one year from the date of the last dose.
- COVID-19 recovery certificate: Valid for 6 months.
- Negative COVID-19 diagnostic test certificate:
- With antigen test (ART): 48 h
- With PCR: 72 h
Depending on the approvals of European regulations, these deadlines may vary. In any case, in each of the certificates, you will find their period of validity indicated.
In what format can I get them?
In a digital document in PDF format with a QR code that contains the essential information, as well as the digital signature to verify the authenticity of the certificate and that you can print on paper if necessary.
