Rathayatra 2023 in Barcelona: Celebrating the Divine Journey
Saturday, July 15, the Hindu community celebrates the Chariot Festival (Ratha Yatra). This is an ancient tradition from Odisha state in India, where Krishna is worshipped as the Lord of the Universe. The date is set according to the Hindu lunar calendar, and usually coincides with the months of June or July.
Although the official day, according to this year’s Hindu calendar, of the Ratha Yatra celebration was June 20, the association that organizes this festivity in Barcelona, the ISKCON association, will hold the celebration through the streets of the Ciutat Vella district this Saturday, July 15, from 4:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. ROUTE: Plaza Real, Ramblas, Portaferrissa street, Portal del Ángel, Bisbe street, Sant Jaume square, Ferran street and Plaça Real. The streets of the city will once again be filled with colors, songs and dances to honor Krishna.
